"...I have found it impossible to carry the heavy burden of responsibility and to discharge my duties as king as I would wish to do without the help and support of the woman I love." So said King Edward VIII to the people of Britain on December 11, 1936 during a speech marking his abdication of the throne.
He did so in pursuit of a forbidden love with the American Wallis Simpson, who was married to her second husband at the time.
When asked by the royal family and prime minister to make a choice between the throne and love, Edward VIII chose the latter, abdicating so he could marry Wallis.
GINZA SIX Artglorieux is proud to present the beloved jewelry of Wallis, Duchess of Windsor, who served as the central character in the twentieth century's grandest love story. She always kept these items by her side, cherishing them until her dying day. These include not only extravagant pieces, but also small crosses and many other items kept in commemoration of lovely dates with Edward, trips they took together and so forth, all serving as testament to Wallis' love and playful humor. We urge you to come and experience this beautiful, royal romance for yourself.
An exhibition of antique jewelry from the Bond Street brand will be held simultaneously. We look forward to your visit.
