Nanami Shimoju and Ayano Oki are young female artists who depict human subjects in the Nihonga (Japanese painting) style. Both painters portray said subjects with a focus on the emotions, passions and deeds of human beings. The key word in this title's exhibition, shiwaza, which means an act or deed, or else the workings of some force, is the perfect underlying theme for these two artists' pieces. Was it a personal act of mine, a deed carried out by you, or perhaps the workings of fate? Which type of shiwaza does each work represent? Come by and see for yourself at this exhibition.
