Kota Watanabe is a self-taught artist; he has never received a formal art education. This exhibition will showcase his accumulated works produced over the ten-year period since he devoted himself fully to his painting endeavors. Watanabe utilizes the smallest possible number of subjects in his works and incorporates blank space throughout the composition in a manner often seen in traditional Japanese painting (Nihonga). He then fills this space with supplementary geometric-line patterns to convey multiple, complex thoughts and emotions together as one in minimalist manner. Rather than taking a realist approach his depictions, he dedicates himself fully to expressing the inner truth found deep within the painting's subject. We hope you will stop by to view his works for yourself.
