Hiroto Rakusho, an artist renowned both in Japan and on the global stage, creates magical depictions of moonlight which he infuses with singular nuances through the use of metallic leaf application techniques based on centuries-old crafting traditions from Kyoto's Nishijin district. Memories of the Moon Exhibition showcases a number of Moon-themed works by Rakusho. His pieces give off a warm shine, as if the Moon, which has floated in our night sky since time immemorial, has descended right down to earth.
