Izumi Kogahara applies overlapping layers of pure, vivid color to depict pixel-plotted human figures and backdrops. The female figures' color planes slightly seep across their outlines, creating softer and less defined separations from the background. The artist deftly captures the emotions of her subjects through leveraging of the unique three-dimensional texture characteristics of oil paints, striving to achieve expression that conveys each woman's pure and untarnished existence. Color of Existence is Kogahara's first exhibition in two years at Artglorieux, and it will showcase approximately thirty oil paint and watercolor pieces, including new works. Witness for yourself the frank, pristine worlds conveyed through her color-layering techniques.
