Haruna Takahama makes liberal use of materials such as gold and silver leaf alongside vivid mineral pigments to depict animals and plants in intricate detail.
She conjures up stories based on the unique facial expressions and movements of the animals, and then transfers these to her canvasses.
For this exhibition, Takahama presents approximately 30 works (including new pieces), among them folding-pair screens covered in striking, vivid colors with translucency, and works depicting animals adorned with beautiful, colorful patterns.
