Artglorieux is proud to host Korean artist Park Jongyong's first solo exhibition in Japan, "Symphony of Connections." Born in 1953 in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, Park has spent more than 40 years developing his own, unique artistic world that calls upon aesthetics from both East and West. Inspired originally by the clarity characteristic of Eastern painting styles, he went on to explore the freedom of expression seen in Western painting and the beautiful storytelling facets of minhwa Korean folk art. The body of Park has created thus far seems to grow more profound as time passes, and is pervaded by delicate and fine artistic sensibility. Over the years, Park has created a record of his own life through the medium of painting, and he expresses this overall progression by connecting series of individual points. With each and every point he paints, Park makes sure to avoid overlooking even the most minute shudder, feeling, or sensation in the overall flow of things. At a glance, each point may appear to be the same; however, not a single one of them is identical to the others. As he undergoes changes as a person, Park creates countless such points and examines them closely, hoping to capture the changes in himself as well as the time which passes during that process. We invite you to explore each point, each line, each color created by the artist and try to imagine the thoughts and feelings behind them as a means of encountering the memories held therein.
