Kohei Arano focuses on a shared theme between Nihonga (Japanese painting) and street art: a culture of accepting and incorporating change. Metal leaf undergoes color changes with time, and the walls of buildings and other urban structures which act as canvasses are transformed through weathering and additions by other artists. The "day after day" exhibition provides a sweeping overview of Arano's trajectory—of an artist who embraces such transformations and accumulation of impacts in his artistic endeavors. Amid the blending of traditional and urban cultures, quietude and impulsiveness, past and present, his works are born anew from day to day. They are experiments which express his firm belief that continual and constant change creates a new future.
