I use iron as the main material for my pieces. Iron (along with steel) is the most widely used industrial material in our world. It is a material we see every day, which forms the various scenery around us. Moreover, if we expand our perspective on this material to include cosmic phenomena, examining it along a spectrum ranging from the origins of matter to life itself, iron exhibits a history closely interlinked with ours as humans. While conveying the appeal inherent in the grandeur of these perspectives, it is my hope that iron can serve as a single, shared ""bridge"" to answer ubiquitous inquiries.
Multiple types of overlapping and interweaving time exist within matter, ranging from time in the larger geological sense to that relating to industrial structures. My job is to capture those strata and, serving as an agent of formation myself, arrange them in my own unique ways. I do this while exploring the ways in which overlap occurs between the inherent human process of creating, manipulating and structuring materials, and the cycles of nature.
