Banshu Kaku's works are characterized by preservation of Nihonga (Japanese painting) aesthetic alongside a strong emphasis on decorative elements reflecting contemporary sensibilities. His bold compositions, fine depictions of even the most intricate details, and utilization of techniques such as gold leaf and raised paint surfaces to express light make for extremely beautiful works filled with profound dignity and energy that leave viewers in awe. This latest exhibition based on an "Animism" theme showcases primary small-format pieces—more than 20 in total—that capture and express the souls of animals, plants and other things of nature based on unique sensibilities.
