Taro Yamamoto paints Nipppon-Ga, which are works based on classical Japanese painting conventions that also incorporate contemporary elements. The theme of this exhibition is "NIPPON POP." In recent years, Yamamoto has been working on his "NEO UKIYOE" series, which preserves the traditions of Ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the Edo Period (1603–1868) while reinterpreting them through stylistic choices and sensibilities from modern-day pop art. Through this approach, he redefines old Ukiyo-e prints and Rinpa school painting styles with vivid pop-art colors. We invite you to experience these reimaginings of traditional Japanese art for yourself!
